A Room with a ZOO … a live encounter with Matadi, the gorilla!
You can’t miss it of course … because the venue is situated in the world-famous ZOO itself. But do not forget to take your time to visit the Antwerps ZOO, that celebrated its 175th anniversary last year. It’s more than ever bustling with life! Walk among the gorilla Matadi and his friends in the new Ape Valley, through to the Buffalo savannah, where buffaloes and birds live together in peace. Your safari feeling will be complete when you look out over the new savannah with giraffes and zebras. The okapis have a warm greenhouse, so they can be seen every day.
Instant CSR and sustainability
The FMCCA lies in the centre of the Antwerp ZOO, a part of the ZOO Foundation, a place of animal welfare, nature conservation and science. A place from which the FMCCA derives its huge and quite remarkable social relevance and anchoring. Anja Stas, Chief Commercial Officer FMCCA: "Every cent spent at our conference centre is managed by the ZOO Foundation and directly contributes to our efforts in the field of animal welfare, heritage, breeding programmes, research and nature conservation. All of this is aimed at the welfare and survival of our zoological friends". Flanders Meeting & Convention Center is the only convention centre in the world with a ZOO on site that guarantees an immediate CSR solution through animal conservation.
Events held at the FMCCA make a real difference – both for the delegates and the animals.
Organizers are instantly investing in CSR and sustainability by supporting the ZOO’s numerous projects in animal welfare, heritage, breeding programmes, scientific research and nature conservation with every penny spent – even catering reflects the sustainability policies.
Thanks to previous events held at the FMCCA, such as the “15th International Conference on Cochlear Implants and other Implantable Auditory Technology” we were able to donate the impressive sum of €25,000 to the Virunga National Park, the spiritual home of our Zoo mascot, Matadi, the silverback gorilla. Zoos have a great importance in the conservation of threatened species – a cause we are proud to contribute!
